Lyon
In September 2019, I attended a week-long intensive language course for French teachers in the heart of beautiful Lyon. This course was very comprehensive and consisted of two key parts: a language module and a didactic module.
Mornings were dedicated to language skills in small groups, with levels reaching C1. This part offered the ideal environment to improve written expression, comprehension and speaking. The emphasis was on the practical application of language skills in real situations.
Afternoon seminars were devoted to didactic skills and exchange of experiences with colleagues. The topics covered a wide range, from project-based learning to the use of information technology in teaching. Lyon Bleu International, the venue for the course, was not only strategically located in the city centre, but also provided an environment that promoted effective communication and interaction between participants.
The instructor conducted the language course with excellence, emphasizing all aspects of language competency. In the C1 groups, we were able to focus more deeply on speaking, and the daily practice of written expression allowed us to improve in this area as well. Grammar was not neglected, and we were given space to rediscover the rules of French spelling.
The didactic part of the course was equally inspiring. The lecturer introduced modern trends in teaching through studios such as New Technologies in Teaching, Project Based Learning and Creating Authentic Materials. These activities were both transferable and easily adaptable to one's own teaching.
Equally important was the time dedicated to sharing experiences and examples of good practice with other teachers. This created a space for enrichment and mutual suggestions for further development. Preparing specific lessons and creating authentic teaching materials were part of the practical approach of the didactic course.
All in all, this experience not only strengthened my language skills but also inspired me with new approaches in teaching. The materials and techniques acquired during the course are now part of my own teaching and bring a new dimension and effectiveness to my teaching approach
