Limassol
In June 2022, I had the unique opportunity to participate in the Erasmus programme in Lemesos, Cyprus. This experience meant not only professional growth for me, but also learning about a new culture and making new friendships.
As part of the programme, I participated in a course called "ICT Tools for Teaching and Learning". The course took place at the private school English in Cyprus every weekday from 8am to 2pm for two weeks.
Studying at English in Cyprus introduced me to modern trends in the use of ICT in language teaching. During the course I was introduced to various tools, methods and applications that can enhance language teaching and learning in general. The lectures were interactive and full of inspiration, and most importantly, they were directly applicable to my future teaching practice. It was enlightening to discuss new trends in teaching and share ideas with people from different parts of Europe.
Outside the school environment, I had the opportunity to explore the beauty of Cyprus. Lemesos offers diversity from historical sites to picturesque beaches. Walking around the old harbour, visiting Kolossi Castle and tasting traditional Cypriot cuisine were unforgettable moments of my stay, which were further enriched by informal afternoon meetings organised by the school itself in the aforementioned locations.
But Erasmus was not just about studying and travelling. Meeting teachers from different parts of Europe was a very important aspect of the programme. I had the opportunity to share experiences with people who shared my passion for education. Common projects, discussions and everyday experiences strengthened my interpersonal skills and opened new perspectives.
All in all, my Erasmus stay in Cyprus was very inspiring and rewarding. I gained new knowledge, enhanced my interpersonal skills and discovered the beauty of a foreign culture. This experience provided me not only with personal and professional enrichment, but also with experiences that I will always remember fondly.
